Cochlear Implant Surgery

What is a Cochlear Implant?

A cochlear implant is an electronic medical device designed for children and adults experiencing severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss who receive minimal benefits from traditional hearing aids. Unlike hearing aids that amplify sound, cochlear implants bypass damaged ear tissues to stimulate the auditory nerve directly.

Cochlear Implantation Inner Ear Restoration

Surgical Procedure & Safeties

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Rohit Agerwal makes a small incision behind the ear to secure the internal receiver-stimulator receiver and thread the microscopic electrode array gently inside the inner ear (cochlea). The procedure utilizes advanced neuro-monitoring grids to ensure facial nerve safety throughout.
